Not a MOBA, but also an Arena

The creators of Battlerite always contrast their brainchild, which appeared in Early Access on Steam, with other games of the genre and even came up with their own - TAB (Team Arena Brawler), which can be translated as the Arena of Team Brawls. Here, fights in front of low-profile spectators go on for five two-minute rounds. The victory goes to those who take 3 of them first. In the spacious arenas where the 2v2 and 3v3 teams are fighting, there are a number of walls and other obstacles, and a sphere periodically appears in its center, the destruction of which gives health or energy to the team that struck the last blow.

But all this is just a background for the main feature of the project. There are no abilities in Battlerite (except for shields) for which you can specify a target. Each skill is a skillshot, that is, you need to predict the direction of the character and apply the ability based on its speed. And this applies not only to all kinds of attacking skills, but also healing abilities and even auto attacks. Although, such a name no longer suits them here.

In addition, instead of running after mouse clicks, the character needs to be controlled in the manner of shooters - WASD + mouse aiming.

Victory must be earned

Heroes don't have mana. Players are limited only by rollbacks. But there is energy that needs to be accumulated by dealing damage to enemies in order to use the ult and three other additional abilities. In total, by the way, each fighter has 7 standard skills and 2 alternative abilities - 9 abilities, most of which are skill shots. From these figures, it becomes clear to an experienced player how demanding this game is for the player's skills.

Each character needs to be studied carefully for a long time in battles with real people, otherwise it will not be possible to achieve good results. And once you switch to another hero, your hands immediately turn into crab claws, and all the skill that just seemed unrealistically high evaporates. Yes, the sets of abilities are unique and often specific, so players prefer not to splatter on improving the skills of the game for all the heroes at once - they choose one, maybe two, and move to the heights of the rating system. Some are already writing guides, although each patch is carefully balanced, changing some fighters beyond recognition.

And more chests

Instead of an account leveling system, it is proposed to mine chests, from which avatars, characters and weapons, and mounts drop out. The latter are also available here, although they are mainly used only at the beginning of the round.

Heroes also have their own development both in and out of battle. Before each round, you are invited to choose one of three talents that will help you adjust the game to certain opponents. Outside of combat, you simply gain experience, level up, and are rewarded with experience or in-game currency.

Early Access Issues

In the future, Battlerite will be free, but now those who want to play will have to buy it. For the CIS, the price is symbolic - about $ 6. The dynamic gameplay does not forgive mistakes and requires maximum concentration and dedication from the players. Apparently, the gaming community has been rushing around in search of this particular game for a long time, because for the first 2 weeks the project was at the top of Steam sales, and the total number of players approached 200 thousand.

Online is not as high as it could be right now. This is due to an incomplete rating system, which is currently being actively updated by Stunlock, and a close company of heroes.

Nevertheless, we strongly recommend trying out this game to all fans of arenas from different MMORPGs, fans of the MOBA genre and fans of esports in general. If the developers do not give up and continue to fill the project with content, a new popular discipline awaits us in the future.
