The original Doom was a shooter with horror elements. Long corridors, enemies appearing out of nowhere conquered gamers already in 1993. Many still play the Brutal Doom mod to this day. The third part of the game has become controversial. The action has become much less, the game has turned into a horror. An impenetrable darkness of corridors, puzzles and a strange balance of weapons. At high difficulty, the weapon looked like an air gun and did not really cause damage.
In 8 years of development, Doom has been through real hell. A change of publishers, staff reductions, a complete reboot of development, and much more - let's see what id Software came up with in the end.
The game has two modes:
Gamers were allowed to try out the beta of the game from April 15th to 17th. Only network mode was available. In the trailer, the multiplayer was a Quake Arena with updated graphics and the ability to transform into one of the demons of the Doom universe. In the open beta, players could only try out deathmatch. Few weapons were issued, and no balance was noticed. At the end of the beta, everyone had a super shotgun that dealt huge damage. Of the available demons, there was only Ravenant, which the entire server was fighting to transform into. Ravenant himself is not killable. A ton of health and one-shot killing weapons didn't give you any chances. At the end of the beta, the players were unhappy, complaining about the brakes on the servers, the long search for players and the imbalance of weapons.
The company turned out to be just a masterpiece. From the very beginning, you are not taught the basics of the game! You wake up in a sarcophagus, punch the demons in the face, take a gun and go on to smash the skulls! If the player wants to learn more about the universe, he can always open the magazine and read there. The new Doom has a pumping system. To upgrade the hero, you need to run through the level and find the cards of elite soldiers. Weapon stats are upgraded from kills, and you can find modifications from robots scattered around the map. Thanks to the modifications, a shotgun can be fired with explosive pellets, and a rocket launcher can be mounted on a machine gun.
Of the advantages, it is worth noting the feeling of the weapon. Every shot counts, and it feels like you're shooting from a real cannon. The new part retained the main detail of the first part - perpetual motion. Persistent players have been left with many secrets and Easter eggs. Excellent musical accompaniment made in the pro-metal style will boost morale throughout the game.
Among the disadvantages, it is worth noting the still poorly functioning multiplayer. Pirates will not be trying out this product for a long time, Doom has acquired protection from Denuvo.As a result, after all the reboots and changes in development, the product came out good.
