About the plot

The action of the new part takes place in 1968, in New Bordeaux, the idea of which was taken by New Orleans. The main character is Lincoln Clay. This time, the plot will not develop in an Italian family. The only Italian in the Lincoln gang will be Vito Scaletto, the hero of the previous installments. But how does the game relate to the Italians and the mafia in general? Lincoln gathers his gang, which is going to confront Cosa Nostra. There are four people in the gang who are going to destroy the mafia and take over the city.

About gameplay

In the new part of the game, we added a bunch of side quests. Starting from racketeering and seizing zones, ending with the usual card game. The fighting style can be described in two words: shoot and hide behind shelters. The nice thing is that the character has no health regeneration, which adds complexity to the game. Stealth has appeared in the game. The player can only carry two guns, a pistol and something heavier.

Driving is one of the main gameplay details. Although the game has "realistic" controls, it is rather poorly executed and the arcade controls are felt. The car skids too improbably. And the enemy's cars turn over like paper, subsequently turning into a New Year's fireworks display.

And now about the pleasant. The game has good music. We will hear The Animals, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and others. Fans of music in games will definitely appreciate it.

The problems of the game.

The main problem of the game was the quality control department. It is immediately obvious that Mafia III is the first game from Hangar 13. What immediately caught the players' eye was the 30 FPS limit. Next, the terrible soap in the game. It's unclear how it happened that increasing the anti-aliasing settings slowed down the game. Regarding the graphics, there are terrible bugs in the game when you can fall under the map, fly into the sky on the first task, shoot weapons with the model turned to the side and mirrors with a refresh rate of 30 seconds. The Internet has already been flooded with videos and memes about these issues.

Artificial intelligence is also not particularly encouraging. You can sit behind the same shelter with the enemy, but he won't decide to come out and punch you in the jaw, he'll just shoot in your direction without hitting you. The police in the new unit will immediately open fire on you when you receive a wanted list. In the first part of the Mafia, you could be given a speeding ticket, and if you tried to escape from the police, you were put on the wanted list until you were imprisoned, and later even before shooting to kill.

From myself, I will say that Mafia III is not the first game that shows itself in a terrible light on the first day of release, you can recall No Man's Sky. In 2015, people complained about early access games from indie developers, in 2016 it was the same, but with AAA publishers. I didn't like the color scheme during the game, but SweetFX fixed everything. The gameplay is fun, but there's clearly something wrong with the physics. The plot is like in a movie. It's nice to play and move through the story, but I wasn't very interested in the additional tasks.
