To sail the vast oceans of space, explore distant planets and explore new species of animals – isn't this a traveler's dream? Even though No Man's Sky was coolly received by the community on its release day, the game may still interest many players.
On the very first day of PC sales, the indie project was branded crude and uninteresting. The players didn't like a few things that, in their opinion, are critically lacking in the game.:
It is easy to confirm or challenge the correctness or falsity of some judgments. No Man's Sky is a rare game for people who are not looking for shooting, aimless running and noise. No Man's Sky is a game for those who like to explore the world slowly, gradually improving themselves and their ship. Players have thousands of worlds at their disposal that don't look alike. A newly explored planet, plant, or animal in these worlds can be named after itself. Have you ever wanted to return to a time when the Earth was not fully explored and needed to be explored? There is a chance – this is No Man’ Sky!
The system requirements don't look daunting, but the players' criticism has hit the nail on the head here – indie projects are often poorly optimized. If you have a Core I7 and a GTX970, there will be no problems, but not everyone can boast of such an asset. However, this is not critical and will pass over time. For example, the projects of the notorious RockStar developers had poor optimization and crashed once every half hour (L.A.Noire, GTA 4), but later improved to fully playable.
The developers decided not to add multiplayer. And what chance is there to meet a living soul in one of the several thousand worlds? It wasn't worth it, and the developers added a different social aspect. So, when you explore something new, you give it a name. If the player arrives on a planet that has already been explored, he will see the names that were originally given by the discoverer. It is also possible that soon the in–game store (where you can buy or sell anything from antimatter to gold) will also depend on the manipulation of other players, creating a "live market".
Undoubtedly, No Man's Sky is an amateur game. It doesn't have popular action, fun multiplayer, or a strong storyline. Not everyone can stay in it for a long time. But if you are a sophisticated adventurer and explorer, then even the first planet will delay you for a couple of hours! And there are an incredible number of such planets, besides they vary in climate, life forms, etc. The character can even learn the language of ancient civilizations that once inhabited these planets. And the main idea itself, to get to the center of the universe, is exciting – what awaits the player there?
If you are not a researcher at heart, and the considerable price of No Man's Sky does not suit you, try downloading it somewhere and evaluate it yourself. The game is friendly to beginners, it has Russian localization and intuitive interface and controls. It's impossible to say for sure whether you like it or not, but this project definitely deserves special attention.
