About The Game

The canons of the genre

There are no deviations from the starting point, everything is within the framework of the "mob" genre. Two camps that are at war with each other and have different colors for convenience. The opponents have a well-equipped base with several turrets. The middle is considered a neutral zone, but that's where the main events of the game take place. There are also similarities to "capture the flag" - you can kill large opponents, capture points and receive financial assistance for this.

Classic Dota

Everything is painfully familiar: we choose a hero, comrades do the same, and opponents…You won't believe it! They choose heroes too! And after that, the confrontation begins. The horde on one side is locked in a duel with the crowd on the other side. At a neutral point, the warriors decide which one of them is worthy of victory. As soon as the position is captured, you can move on to the first turret. The combat vehicle will not allow you to break through immediately, but its health does not recover, so over time, this barrier will also be broken.

By killing enemy soldiers, you will receive coins. And coins in role-playing games are spent on character development. New armor, weapons, improved stats – you'll need a fat wallet to become the best. If your teammates aren't stupid, you can level up safely. But sometimes you have to take on the role of a leader and drag the game yourself, performing incredible tricks.

The idea is cool, but the implementation suffers

It is best to play Vainglory with friends, so that everyone knows their roles and has the opportunity to relax and systematically destroy the enemy in their position, without worrying about possible "bluntness" on the part of a colleague. The game provides for this. But the implementation is not very good, because there are not very many players yet, and even desmatch is a regular mode that does not turn on the first time.

Why are "moba" not so popular among mobile players? It's about the frenzied pace that the genre imposes. Newcomers enter the MOBA, poke their nose into the screen and act no faster than in the usual campaign of the third Warcraft. Experienced PC players give out hundreds of clicks per minute, flying all over the map and performing a lot of useful actions. Think about how you can implement this on a small mobile device, and even not in the most convenient conditions (after all, most people play on a mobile phone not at home in an armchair).

Slow, but fast and small

The developers tried to help gamers by making Vainglory very slow. Sometimes it seems that what is happening on the screen is a slow–motion video.

Although everything is very slow, the authors managed to reduce the time of an average battle from the standard forty to a perfectly acceptable twenty minutes. Still, it's a bit much for mobile battles. And considering the time spent searching for a match, choosing a hero, and waiting for opponents, you get depressed. Having so much time, it's better to "roll the dot" than poke your nose at the smartphone screen.

And the reduction of time had an impact on the content of the game. There's a small map and too little room for tactical maneuvers. You'll have to run head-on, attacking, dying, resurrecting, and attacking again. Diluting this routine will be a trip to the store for a new super sword or cool armor.

But the graphics are awesome

And it's true. The graphics here are at an excellent level. It feels like we're looking at a kind of benchmark from Metal technology, which is trending among mobile app developers. The picture is gorgeous, not much inferior to its computer counterparts. The artists did their best by working out the character models down to the smallest detail. But to enjoy it, you will have to use a powerful device.

Finally, let's list the advantages and disadvantages of the project.:

  • the combat mechanics are worked out, no worse than on a PC;
  • the graphics are powerful, made on the basis of Metal;
  • the only decent MOBA project on phones;
  • a powerful gadget is required for a normal game;
  • it is not very comfortable to play due to the incompatibility of the platform and genre.
